Die Stars werden wohl im diesjährigen Draft den 11. Pick haben, sollten sie die Draft Lottery gewinnen, könnten sie allerdings noch bis auf den 7. Platz vor kommen, die Chancen dafür sind aber nur bei 1,5%.

Die Edmonton Oilers haben wie erwartet die Draft Lottery gewonnen und haben somit beim Draft 2010 25. Juni in Los Angeles den #1 Pick. Die Dallas Stars ziehen an 11. Stelle.

Heute Nacht ist es soweit, die erste (und interessanteste ) Runde des Drafts steht an.
Es gibt ja wie jedes Jahr diverse Mock Drafts, ziemlich oft wird dabei der Verteidiger Derek Forbort genannt.

Es gibt auch wieder diverse Trade Spekulationen, die Stars versuchen anscheinend einen Ribeiro Deal zu machen.

Da darf man ja gespannt sein. Ich würde mir mal einen 1. Pick wünschen der spfort mit "anpacken" kann und nicht erst längere Zeit in unteren Liegen spielt. Aber das ist scheinbar nicht so oft der Fall...?!

Q. Are you shocked with how long Cam Fowler had to wait?
JACK CAMPBELL: Oh, definitely. He's one of my buddies, and I thought he was going to be long gone by 12. Anaheim got a franchise defenseman tonight. They've got to be pretty happy.

Q. What did Dallas just get?
JACK CAMPBELL: Hopefully we've got a lot of work to do. But hopefully I'll be there for a few years.

Q. Did you have any indication that they were going to take you?
JACK CAMPBELL: It's one of the teams that I talked to a little bit more. It's a team that I really wanted to go to. Marty Turco has been my idol my whole life. I've been working with the Dallas Stars goalie a little bit.
You know to be drafted by Dallas, it's such a first-class organization, it really is a dream come true.

Q. What do you know about Dallas, the city?
JACK CAMPBELL: I don't know too much. I know it's a pretty good city and a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to taking it to the next level.

Q. Why was Marty Turco your favorite player?
JACK CAMPBELL: I loved watching him growing up. But recently I looked past that and seeing what he does for the community and how great a guy he is. He's really an inspiration for me as a person, and I was fortunate enough to meet him this year after a Red Wings game. It really was a life changing experience.


Q. Did you have a Wings goalie that you were ever a fan of --
JACK CAMPBELL: No, just Marty.

Q. How would you describe your goaltending style?
JACK CAMPBELL: I'd say I'm technically sound with a good level of athleticism. I try to balance the two, and I love the pressure moments, and I love when the game's on the line, I want the puck. I love to win.

Q. Do you have an age which you hope to be playing in the NHL? I know you're big on notes on the wall and such. Do you have a year or two down the road?
JACK CAMPBELL: Right now it's up to Dallas. I'm going to be working as hard as I possibly can on a day-to-day basis. I'm going to be doing everything I can to be ready. When they call me and want me in are there, I'll be ready.

Scouting Report:
One of, if not the most improved player in Sweden between this year and last! Nemeth has really gained a level of comfort in his big body and has learned how to use it to his advantage. Punishing, Nemeth can dish out contact and receive it just as well and very rarely gives up his position. He can manhandle most players to the outside and can be a very intimidating player around his own crease while managing to stay within the rules. Nemeth makes good decisions on both sides of the puck even when under heavy pressure. He is consistent, disciplined and reliable and can lead the rush or hang back and support if needed.

NHL Potential:
Could develop into a 2-3 defender who can match up against top player with some offensive upside.
Style compares to: Pavel Kubina

Ihren 3rd Round Pick (#71) haben die Stars gegen die Picks #77 und #109 der Avs getauscht

In der 3. Runde haben sich die Stars mit Pick #77 den LW Alex Guptill geholt.

Stars scout Jimmy Johnston: “Guptill is big and strong, one of the most talented guys that comes out of tier two. He has good hands. He’s going to the University of Michigan. Alex really does not lack anything, he just needs to continue to play games. He was injured a bit last year.”

Mit Pick #109 haben sie einen weiteren Defender geholt: Alex Theriau

International Scouting Service:
“His skating ability is above average. To make the step up to the next level, Theriau needs to further develop his physical element to his game. With the movement to the Silvertips last season it looks as though he has found a comfortable home with them. Theriau is a responsible two-way defender with good vision. He makes smart plays when given time to execute. He is a good skater and has good defensive support instincts as well as good anticipation skills. He can be very calculating to his defensive approach which can lead to passive pressure and loose gap control at times. Theriau often stays in the safe areas of the ice and doesn’t take too many risks.”
